LIFT 2009 Team Members
Max Anderson (Captain) Max Anderson hails from England, and has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for the last 16 years. He has a BA in Communications and Post-Graduate Certificate in Journalism. He runs his own hi-tech consultancy business focusing on training, instructional design, and recruiting. He has dabbled with HOBA over the last few years as a volunteer and decided to get involved at a more committed level as a way to give back to the community and be of greater service to others. He is also a mentor for a young boy in the North Bay as part of the Big Brother Big Sister organization, and finds it incredibly rewarding to interact with under-privileged children. He is proud to have been selected for HOBA's 2009 LIFT program and looks forward to the fun, the friends, and the personal growth. He anticipates creating his own foundation or charity one day (tackling women's abuse issues) and hopes the LIFT experience will help him prepare for that. He enjoys swimming, sailing, scuba diving, snowboarding, windsurfing, kite-flying, cycling, camping, and pretty much anything that involves being outside in the beautiful Bay Area with joyful friends, warm winds, and blazing blue skies.

Josefina Jimenez
Josefina Jimenez was born and raised in Mexico City, one of the largest cities on the planet. Josefina was used to fast pace and lots of people until she met her match volunteering with seniors through HOBA. She has since learned to slow down and enjoy the silence in the company of our Bay Area elders and that is now her favorite volunteering activity. While Josefina earned a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and a M.Sc. in Operations Research, she is currently job hunting after a 9-month world traveling adventure with her husband. No regrets!
